program of recreation

by Heinz Trückl last modified 2010-09-14 14:33

For more than 20 years, Horst Walenta organises and arranges a program for Russian children. He applies for the visas, checks the funding and looks for like-minded people. All the Russian children live near Chernobyl and need regular recreation of the nuclear pollution. Austrian host families care for the young girls and boys during their stay in Austria. The "parents" venture trips, play with the children and try to show their fosterlings the necessity of a non-violent familiar environment. One fixed part of the recreation program is a creative workshop in my atelier. With the help of two interpreters the children can experiment with different materials and can playfully work out some souvenirs. They take the small works of art home and thus can easier remember their Austrian holidays.
